Age 51. Born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1956. Started his mountaineering career in college years climbing variety of mountain range in Japan as well as overseas. As a professional outdoor and mountaineering cameraman, filmed more than 25 high altitude expeditions for television special programs for major broadcasting stations such as NHK, TBS, and TV Asahi. Led the Miura Everest 2003 expedition as the climbing leader and the official cameraman, and holds the record for the most number of reaching the summit as a Japanese (currently 4).
